ISB Bangkok School : Inside the Allegations and Workplace Concerns
International School Bangkok, or ISB Bangkok as most people know it, has always had a strong reputation in the international school world. The school is known for its academics, huge campus, and salary packages that attract teachers from all over the world. For years, many educators saw ISB as one of the more desirable schools to work at in Southeast Asia. Lately though, the school has been drawing attention online for a very different reason.

Over the past few weeks, two separate discussions on Reddit’s r/Internationalteachers forum have sparked conversations about leadership issues and staff culture at the school. Most of the discussion centered around anonymous allegations involving ISB’s Head of School. While none of the claims have been officially confirmed in public, the threads gained a lot of attention among international teachers.
The first thread started after one Reddit user asked whether the Head of School had been suspended following an incident at a school related event. According to the post, rumors were circulating that the administrator became heavily intoxicated during the gathering and allegedly behaved inappropriately toward a staff member. Later in the thread, the original poster claimed current employees had privately confirmed parts of the story. Another update suggested there were also rumors that the administrator may have been targeted because of disagreements involving the school board.

As more people joined the discussion, the allegations became more serious. Several anonymous commenters claimed the administrator showed up intoxicated at the event and continued drinking throughout the evening. Some users alleged a female colleague was publicly harassed during the gathering. Others claimed a male colleague was also involved in the incident. One commenter even alleged the administrator vomited during the event. None of those claims were backed by official documents or public evidence in the thread.
The conversation soon moved beyond the alleged incident itself. A number of users who claimed to know the administrator from previous schools described him as difficult to work with and accused him of toxic leadership. Some alleged he had a history of bullying staff members and creating unhealthy work environments. Others accused him of intimidation and abusive management behavior. A few commenters even claimed similar concerns had followed him at earlier schools before arriving at ISB Bangkok.
At one point, the thread shifted toward talk of an alleged internal investigation.

According to several anonymous posts, complaints were reportedly submitted against the administrator and an outside legal firm was allegedly brought in to interview staff members. Some commenters claimed the Head of School later resigned. Still, no official statement or public report confirming those allegations was shared in the Reddit discussions.
Not everyone in the thread believed the accusations automatically. A smaller number of users pushed back against the speculation and warned people against treating anonymous internet posts as proven facts. Some pointed out that online rumors can quickly spiral and damage reputations, especially when there are no public findings attached to the claims. Even with those concerns, many commenters appeared convinced there were deeper issues happening behind the scenes at the school.
A second Reddit discussion involving ISB Bangkok painted a broader picture of frustration among some educators. The thread originally started as a normal conversation about teacher benefits, salaries, housing allowances, and life in Bangkok. But as more teachers joined the discussion, the topic slowly shifted toward concerns about workplace culture and morale inside the school.

Many ISB Bangkok commenters said positive things about the facilities, student community, and compensation packages. However, some commenters said the administration’s “internal” issues affected teacher morale, and some users said the school’s good standing and employees’ internal realities did not match. Some users said leadership and management practices raised concerns.
Compared to the first thread, the second thread did not center on specific cases of misconduct. However, the two threads focused on the same issues. Both threads raised questions regarding workplace culture and concerns about senior leadership. Also, many of the users raised concerns regarding other international schools. The concerns focused on the lack of accountability for the administration. The users raised concerns about whether employees are able to speak out safely from within.
For now, the allegations discussed across both Reddit threads remain unverified publicly. No court records, disciplinary findings, or official investigation reports confirming the claims were linked anywhere in the discussions reviewed for this article. Like most online forums, the threads included a mix of opinions, rumors, personal accounts, and speculation.
At the same time, the volume of comments and the consistency of some allegations have clearly caught attention within the international teaching community. Whether the discussions reflect deeper problems at the school or simply online speculation without evidence remains an open question.
Allegations: However, multiple commenters strongly implied they were talking about Dr. Sascha Heckmann, who was publicly listed as Headmaster/Head of School of ISB Bangkok around that period according to publicly available school information.
It’s important to note:
- The allegations discussed in the Reddit thread were anonymous internet claims and rumors.
- We could not find an official public statement, police report, or court record confirming misconduct allegations against him.
- The Reddit discussion included both accusations and comments questioning the accuracy of the claims
